G Plan Scandinavian Range
Inquire about this item
A sideboard from G Plan's 'Scandinavian' range by in-house designer Victor Bramwell Wilkins in teak circa 1964. Following directly from the success of the Kofod Larsen designed 'Danish' range, G Plan refined the Scandinavian influence to their own functional and aesthetic tastes. This piece features elegantly tapered legs, sculpted base and handles in solid afromosia (African teak) and flat cut teak veneers repeated across the cupboards and drawers.
Overall excellent condition with no corner chips or veneer damage. Cupboard doors are solid and all corners and joints are sound. The door and drawer faces exhibit a lightly oiled, open-grained texture. Note that the doors pivot rather than hinge meaning that they never sag or become crooked over time. This piece has been very well cared for throughout. The top drawer retains original baize lining and removable cutlery dividers. The whole cabinet has been gently cleaned and re-polished with Danish oil to a low lustre finish.
