6 Mogens Kold dining chairs designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen circa 1955 and extending dining table.

Arne Hovmand Olsen apprenticed to cabinetmaker P. Olsen Sibast in 1938 before enrolling in a technical school specialising in furniture design in 1941. Upon graduation, he began his own studio creating furniture influenced by modernist design and executed in a simple, light style.

The chairs are beautifully constructed from solid teak with gentle, curved backrests. The seats are woven in the traditional manner from Danish paper cord. The table is also finished in teak with solid legs and edges. The base and leaf supports are constructed from birch with provision for the legs to be easily detached for transportation.

The table top, legs and chair frames are all in excellent condition, with all joints tight and sound. The corded seats are original and exhibit a patina of age appropriate wear however all are sturdy, comfortable and ready for use.

Each chair retains its original Mogens Kold metal label, making for an extremely sought after and collectible set.
